Ain’t Life Amazing

“Is it in?”

Charlie laughed. “No, Heather, it isn’t in yet.”

“Oh, good. I was getting worried.”

“You’ll know when it is in.”

“Will I?”.

In the background the song lyrics “oh I’m newly calibrated, all shiny and clean..” lifted from the speakers.

Charlie laughed again. “You’re really a like a virgin again, aren’t you?”

Her black hair with gray strands barely moved as she nodded underneath him. Her blue eyes met his waiting for instructions.

“Alright, the first thing we need to do is get you wet then.”

“I’m not that new, dork. I own a dildo.” She smacked his chest. “I’m still allowed to tease.”

He laughed again and his olive skinned bald head slumped on her shoulder in a bad attempt to hide it.

The speakers now began singing a new tune…”Stay the night! There’s room enough here for two…”

“Oh, I love this song,” Heather grinned and squirmed a dance beneath the muscular man.

Charlie rolled off her, now into a full belly laugh.

“What? I love Chicago?”

He waved at her with one hand as he rolled further, still laughing, and almost fell off the queen bed.

“Okay, wet,” she said and reached between her own legs.

Charlie finally caught control of his laughter. He turned on his side to her and propped his head up on his arm. “Why haven’t we done this before?”

She grinned at him. “Alphabetical, or in order of importance?”

He stifled his laugh and lightly bit at her pale bare shoulder. “Importance. I mean, you’ve been my best friend since…”

“Since thirty years ago when you saved me from falling down the stairs in calculus…I’m a virgin, not suffering memory loss.” She grinned as she continued working between her legs.

“Importance,” he repeated and propped his head back up. “And it was forty years.”

“Well, in the beginning…” Heather said in a deep voice.

He rolled his eyes and allowed another chuckle.

“We used to care that I was Catholic and you were Muslim.”

He lightly nodded agreement. “True.”

“Then you were married to Sanita.”

His eyes glossed for just a moment, but he did not respond.

The stereo changed again. “See the dog and butterfly, although she had to try…”

“Sanita was my friend, too, so I wasn’t going to fuck that up. Not suggesting you would have even if I’d tried.”

He shrugged.

“Bullshit, Charlie. You’re a nice guy. You and I both know she was your life.” Her blue eyes met his browns before continuing. “You asked,” she said softly. Her hand stopped playing so she could turn and prop her head up to face him. “Then you were mourning her forever while you were dealing with raising teenaged daughters. At that time I would have, but I don’t think you were ready.”

He nodded. “Sanita’s gone twenty years, now.”

She nodded and kissed him lightly. “I know. I miss her everyday, too.”

His eyes drifted down to the green sheets beneath them. “I don’t think I could ever love like that…”

“I know that, too.”

He looked back at her and then down her naked body. “Why did you stop.”

She shrugged. “Wasn’t sure if maybe we should stop.”

He pushed her over to her back again. “Absolutely not.” He then crawled to the bottom of the bed and lowered his lips between her legs.

“Ah yeah,” she gasped. “That’s the spot.”

His tongue searched for her wetness all along her thighs, around her clit and inside.

“So, where was I? Oh, then, of course, there was Lance.”

Charlie stopped and both of them gave an overt smile before more laughter ensued.

Now playing her clit with his fingers, Charlie propped his chin on her thigh. “What ever happened to Lance.”

She shrugged and sighed in comfortable uncomfortableness. “The operation went well.”

She nodded. “Now he’s Linda.”

Again both laughed. Charlie lifted himself up and crawled up her before gently kissing her. He reached between his own legs and guided his erection between her warm lips.

“That’s it, baby,” she sighed and wrapped her legs around him linking her ankles.

“How did you explain to Paula that her father is now a woman?”

“She just took it in stride.” Heather pulled him deeper with her legs. “I think it bothers her that her father has prettier shoes than she does, though.”

Charlie laughed into her shoulder again.
“So, last reason we waited until now…” Heather gave a low pleasant moan, “Oh, fuck yeah.”

Charlie paced himself, not wanting to cum until she did. “Yeah?”

“What other gift would be better for my best friend on his sixty-fifth birthday?”

He smiled and kissed her deeply. “Cum with me?” he asked with a wink.

She did a quick salute. “Yes, sir.” She then wrapped her arms around him and clung to him.

They rocked and rolled for an hour until they screamed together with their orgasms.

From the radio a guy named Kim Mitchell crooned, “Ain’t life amazing!”
